South West Health and Care Network
Regional Voices, the national forum of regional voluntary sector networks, has secured funding from the Department of Health's Strategic Partner programme. This is a partnership project between the nine English regional VCS networks, including South West Forum, for which the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Forum will be the accountable body and responsible to the Department of Health for contractual delivery.The network is part of a programme to build mechanisms for an effective flow of information, intelligence and evidence between local third sector organisations and the Department of Health, South West Strategic Health Authority and other agencies. It aims to provide high quality evidence-based input to policy and strategy development; an efficient conduit for communication with third sector organisations; and a well informed, independent critical friend.
The staff resources funded by the project include a Project Manager (a national post based with the Y&H Regional Forum) and a Health coordinator role in each region.
As part of this project South West Forum will:
- Gather and collate contact information on VCOs in the region with an interest in health and social care and use these contacts to establish the South West Health and Care Network.
- Establish mechanisms for communicating with members of the South West Health and Care Network.
- Disseminate DoH and other health and social care communications to the South West Health and Care Network.
- Undertake two consultations each year on health or social care topics.
- Build relationships with the Strategic Health Authority in the region.
- Undertake action research to establish the level of VCS involvement in health and social care.
- Run one major health related event in the region during each year of the (three year) project.
